ABOUT DR. BARBARA

Dr. Barbara Sargent is a distinguished educational leader with over 30 years of experience driving academic innovation and organizational excellence. Currently serving as the Superintendent of Schools for the Hermon School Department in Maine, she has previously led several high-performing New Jersey districts, including West Morris Regional and Parsippany-Troy Hills.

A recognized expert in strategic planning and instructional leadership, Dr. Sargent has successfully implemented 1:1 technology initiatives, expanded STEM, AP and IB programs, and managed annual operating budgets exceeding $175 million. Her career is marked by prestigious honors, including being named the 2024 Morris County Superintendent of the Year and the 2003 New Jersey Principal of the Year for Central NJ.

Dr. Sargent is a prolific writer and speaker on the evolution of female leadership, having presented her research at the Women’s Leadership Conference at Oxford University. She holds an Ed.D. in Educational Administration and Supervision from Seton Hall University and continues to mentor the next generation of school leaders.
