2018 Keynote Speakers

In an effort to truly "wow" our audience at The Maine Women's Conference in 2018, we called upon two of the most inspirational, entertaining women we know to be our keynote speakers.

Caroline Paul

Before launching her career as a bestselling author, Caroline Paul embarked on a long list of unlikely adventures, ranging from flying experimental planes to whitewater rafting unexplored rivers in Borneo and Australia. By day, Paul was one of the first women to work for the San Francisco Fire Department—a job that inspired her first work of nonfiction, Fighting Fire. Her latest book, The Gutsy Girl: Escapades for Your Life of Epic Adventure, uses stories from her own life as a gutsy woman to inspire girls to break the rules, take risks and accept seemingly insurmountable challenges. It’s Lean In for middle grade girls, set not in the workplace, but on bicycles, tree branches, sea kayaks, and cliff edges.

In 2016, Paul took the TED Women conference by storm, and her TED Talk has been viewed over 1 million times. Whether Paul is speaking to a conference of corporate leaders or a gymnasium full of girls, her message is galvanizing. What would you do if you weren’t afraid? What risks—both emotional and physical—would you take? She invites audiences to stop living life in the shallow end and cannonball into the deep, meaningful waters.
