Say Yes! Improv Skills in Life, Career and Team Experience with Kymberly Dakin

How would you describe your ultimate team experience? Maybe you would use words like “stimulating”, “high-powered”, “in the zone!” Or maybe your group is functioning in a new dimension beyond the boundaries of space and time – what Mihaly Csikszentmihaly called “Flow”. Bring Out the BRAVE in You with Wendy Silver

Gain Control, Empower Change, and Stop Wasting Time Wondering "What If..." Women’s participation in the workforce drops significantly mid-career. In 2018, women held under a quarter (24%) of senior roles across the world, a decrease from 2017. Not only are women left under-represented in the workplace, but many are stepping away from careers they worked hard to build. During this workshop, we’ll talk about why this might be happening and how a simple reframe of what “work-life balance” really means, could help keep more women working. Wendy will share her own personal struggle to “do it all” and the values collision that she now knows permeated her career and life.

You will walk away with:

  • A strategy to set clear priorities to guide career and life decisions and avoid your own values collision

  • An understanding of how to identify and deal with fears that may be holding you back

  • A plan to gain better control over overwhelming daily obligations

  • More confidence and less guilt when asking for what you need and want

Speaker Biography: Wendy Silver is the founder and president of Beyond the Workplace LLC, a boutique HR consulting company specializing in employee relations. Leading With Vision to Create a Sustainable Future with Dale Sinesi and Amanda Wright

This interactive session is designed for all women with an entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to authentically lead. While as women we may be “experts” at our to-do lists, with our attention constantly pulled in different directions it’s easy to feel disconnected from what matters most to us about our work. Alternatively, when we can readily define and connect with our vision it serves as an important framework from which to lead and grow. During this session, we will introduce a fun and powerful tool for understanding how leading with vision can inform direction, creativity, and growth. Through exercises and discussion, you will practice refining and effectively communicating your vision, and then use it to be more intentional with how you lead and inspire others to follow.

You will walk away with:

Tech Panel: Where are the Women? Leaning Into Technology

Women are conspicuously absent in certain fields such as IT and high-tech. A study by Reuters showed that at least a third of technology groups had ZERO women in leadership positions. Women only hold around 25% of professional computing roles in the US. Also, the turnover rate is more than twice as high for women than for men in these industries.

So why are women not represented more in IT and tech industries, and how does this affect you? What is the impact on all women (not just those in technology fields), and how do we change these patterns?

From time with our Tech Panel, you will learn from a group of women with careers in tech companies who range from industry veterans to novices. Discover common obstacles and learn how to navigate through and around them. Help yourself and the women in your life by understanding these issues, what is at stake, and how to reverse the trends.

You will walk away with:

  • Awareness of why women are not prominent in some fields, such as technology

  • How to deal with common obstacles like “imposter syndrome”, feelings of not belonging, and self-doubt

  • How to build alliances and leverage mentor relationships for sustained success

  • How technology touches everyone’s life and how to “lean-in” to technology
